Another reason....

Everyone should properly trained and armed. Because when the police can't afford to fix their only car it's up to you to protect yourself. This would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

We have a few towns like that around here. One in particular has a police station that is actually a tiny cinderblock building about half the size of my living room and one car.

But to be fair, it sounds like the cop there was trying to be funny or maybe get out of work. Sounds like the mayor offered an option there ;)
